About

The University Lives Collection is assembling a snapshot of global student experience in our time.

Students worldwide are invited to produce and submit short ethnographic films about their university experience, using whatever technology they have. After their films are submitted online, and prizes have been offered for the very best submissions, the films will be catalogued and published online together with commentary by higher education experts.

Meet The UniLives.com Team

J. Nathan MatiasJ. Nathan Matias, Executive Producer
As executive of the World University Project, I spend lots of time talking with people and organisations about our projects. I’m also the primary contact for our board of trustees. I studied English and Computer Science at Elizabethtown College in the USA before studying at Cambridge University. I now split my time between UniLives.com, work as a software engineer, and academic research on electronic literature and digital documentary. (site) (twitter) (flickr) (github)

JGBLJoshua Guy Blanchard Lewis, Project Manager
Aside from coordinating the University Lives Collection, I’m a modern languages student at Cambridge University. I have travelled widely throughout Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East, but also enjoy staying in Cambridge and playing/umpiring lots of hockey, running the university debating society and watching loads of films (especially dramas and World Cinema – recommendations welcome!).

Krishnaa MahbubaniKrishnaa Mahbubani, Marketing Coordinator
Brought up in the fast paced city of Hong Kong, Krish escaped to the UK for a more academic lifestyle. At the moment, she hides out in a small box attempting to get a PhD in Bioscience Engineering. Most commonly found in the lab, on her bike or in a gym and is usually nursing some sports injury.

.

Leo TomitaLeo Tomita, Marketing
Leo has managed to escape from a career in middle-management in a faceless multi-national oil corporation by choosing to become a classical singer, thus shunning financial security. His hobbies include hockey, football and when the weather is not so favourable, playing football games on the Xbox™.

.

Lam Le Lam Le, Marketing
Lam was born in Vietnam but has spent half of her life in Poland and the rest between Vietnam and the UK. She heard about the World University Project while studying Economics at Cambridge University. She was also on the News Team of Cambridge University Radio and organised Cambridge Open Days for Vietnamese students. More recently, she was a facilitator at the World Wide Views on Global Warming event in Hanoi, Vietnam. When free, Lam enjoys playing computer games, reading and dancing and when the budget allows, traveling.

.

Sylwia Presley Sylwia Presley, Marketing Strategist
Born in Poland, I studied communication and languages. Social media fan and blogger since 2004, I have worked for the word of mouth agency 1000heads for 3 years. I am also a volunteer author at Global Voices Online and editor of their Polish GV Lingua site. When not organising another barcamp transparency or local twestival in Oxford, I am taking photos of industrial design and decay.

.

Robert Heaney, DesignerRobert Heaney, Designer
Currently a User Interface Designer based in the US, I spend my days designing and developing solutions for web and mobile applications. With a career in technology that pre-dates the modern internet, I’ve had the privilege of working with a variety of well known clients across multiple industries, such as Gerson Lehrman Group, Toys R Us, Calvin Klein, Polo, Kenneth Cole, Adidas, NFL, MLB, PBS and Merck & Co., Inc. When Nathan asked if I could pitch in to help launch the ULC site, I jumped at the chance. (site) (twitter)
